Q: Can you tell me about the medical weight loss program that you have at Simply Lipo?
A: We have a comprehensive program that encourages a sensible low-fat diet, portion control, a regular exercise program and FDA-approved prescription medications.

The combination of diet, exercise and the use of appetite suppressants is very effective by following our medical weight loss program. People can not only lose weight but, best of all, they can develop new habits that allow them to keep the weight off. You will receive individual medical attention at every visit. Usually visits are once per week, but you are welcome to check in any time.

Q: What happens on the first visit?
A: People come in, fill out a medical history and see the nurse for a consultation. After that, the nurse will go over the points of the program with you. The first visit usually takes about an hour. The following visit would be with the doctor. You would start the program after the doctor's visit.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: The cost of the initial visit is $150. This visit includes your EKG, blood work, body fat percentage and information about the program. The weekly fee is $30, which includes the weekly visit, the appetite suppressant and the B12 shot. The calcium pyruvate and the vitamins cost additional fees and are sold separately by monthly supply.

Q: What medications do you use?
A: Primarily we use phendimetrazine. This is a prescription appetite-suppressant medication that has been used for over 40 years.

Q: Is that phen-fen?
A: No. Phen-fen no longer exists. Phen-fen was the use of two separate medications, one of which (Pondimin) was removed from the market several years ago.

Q: Do you use Ephedra?
A: No. Ephedra is an over-the-counter product that has been shown to cause a number of problems. We use only prescription appetite-suppressant medications.

Q: How long is the first appointment with the doctor?
A: The first visit usually lasts half an hour or so. After that, visits are very brief, usually just a few minutes.

Q: How much weight can I lose per month?
A: People are all different and lose at different rates. It also depends on how much you are paying attention to the medical weight management program, whether or not you are able to exercise and other factors. As a general rule, people can expect to lose around two pounds per week. This is a safe and reasonable rate at which to lose extra weight.

Q: Do I have to sign a contract?
A: No. Our services are provided on a week-by-week basis. There is no contract to sign and no time commitment. We are here to help you. How long you come is up to you.
You are welcome to come in and see what we have to offer. If you would like to go ahead with the program, great! If not, there will be no charge for your visit.
“Let us help you develop a plan for healthy nutrition and exercise so you can lose your extra pounds.”
